Statement of Beliefs

Amor Fati (“AF”) is a spiritual community where people connect deeply with their spirit, find peace, and experience a sense of divine presence intentionally created for spiritual healing, reflection, and transformation through the wisdom of its Sacrament, 5-MeO-DMT. AF’s Sacrament is a divine teacher and guide that is an essential element of our spiritual path. Only through its sincere religious use can participants understand the moral, ethical, and spiritual wisdom and psychospiritual healing the Sacrament teaches us. AF is a syncretic church that weaves eternal moral, ethical, and spiritual guidance from many traditions into its practices and ceremonies.

We, the adherents of the sacramental use of 5-MeO-DMT derived from the Sonoran Desert toad, hold these truths to be self-evident:

Sacred Journey of Connection

We believe that the sacramental use of 5-MeO-DMT facilitates a profound connection to the divine and to the interconnectedness of all life. It provides an avenue for spiritual growth, healing, and self-discovery, allowing us to explore and establish meaningful practices that honor the transformative properties of this medicine.

Core Spiritual Values

Core spiritual values taught and illuminated by our Sacrament include oneness with divine source, self-realization of divine purpose, enlightenment in this lifetime, altruism, forgiveness, acceptance, equality, gratitude, compassion, interdependence, non-discrimination, kindness, non-hatred, mutual aid, selflessness, environmental sustainability, and non-dual co-existence.

Connection to Mother Earth

AF’s Sacrament brings about a profound transformation in our relationship to nature, promoting better care and guardianship of Mother Earth.

Historical Context and Creation of New Practices

Acknowledging the evolving nature of spiritual and religious practices, we commit to creating and formalizing our unique rituals and ceremonies surrounding the use of 5-MeO-DMT. Our aim is to cultivate a respectful and intentional framework that guides our community in its sacramental use.

Community and Ethical Practices

We hold that any practices involving 5-MeO-DMT must be conducted within a framework of integrity, ethics, and community responsibility. We are dedicated to ensuring our ceremonies are conducted safely, with comprehensive support for participants, reflecting a true commitment to the spirit of healing and growth.

Commitment to Education

We pledge to educate our members and the public on the nature of 5-MeO-DMT, its effects, and its cultural significance, promoting an understanding that transcends stigmatization and misinformation.

A Call for Unity

We extend an invitation to other like-minded communities and organizations to unite in our shared mission of advocating for the spiritual and legal recognition of our sacramental practices with 5-MeO-DMT and other entheogenic substances.

In pursuit of these beliefs, we strive for a future where the legal systems honor the rights to spiritual exploration and healing through sacramental use, enabling us to practice safely, freely, and ethically in alignment with our beliefs.

Sacramental Practice and Beliefs

AF’s Sacrament allows participants to come to terms with the death of the physical body, understanding the eternal nature of the soul and the continuation of the soul in the spirit realms and other dimensions after death. Use of our Sacrament helps members and participants to navigate these states of consciousness at the time of death.

AF considers the following days to be holy days: summer and winter solstice, fall and spring equinox, all full moons and new moons, and days set aside to honor our spirit guides and protectors.

Ceremonies occur in compliance with dietary and lifestyle restrictions set out in other church guidance, including abstaining from alcohol and the use of drugs in the days leading up to ceremony. Sexual intercourse is also discouraged for several days in advance of ceremony.

We create and hold sacred space to honor and connect to divine spirit and protective spirits. We engage in seasonal rituals and ceremony with our Sacraments. We pray, sing, meditate, and commune with the natural world and our souls. We gather in places of strong spiritual energy, generally in a setting near or in a natural setting of nature.

Members and participants understand that AF provides its Sacrament as part of the sincere religious or spiritual use of this Sacrament, with a good faith belief that the use and distribution of these substances is protected by the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act and similar protections in each state’s Constitution and laws.

Membership or participation is open to all adults interested in joining our community who take part in our screening process. All Members and participants must agree that they either believe in our doctrine or are interested in exploring if this spiritual practice is right for them.

AF’s Sacrament is maintained consistent with a diversion prevention plan to ensure that no Sacrament is diverted from a religious purpose. During any ceremony involving Sacrament, we will have on hand individuals trained in basic life support, at a minimum to ensure safety. We are also committed to several core values, including non-discrimination and the proper screening and protection of all participants. This requires that all participants in ceremonies are properly screened and an emergency protocol is in place in case of any adverse health reactions.

Founder's Story

AF was founded by Juan Aguilera. Aguilera is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Mario Aiello and the CEO and Founder of Amor Fati. Aguilera’s journey was marked by a battle that many can relate to: a 17-year battle against substance dependency. His journey included struggles with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideations, and suffering. After a therapeutic journey with ibogaine, Aguilera was able to cure his addiction to opioids.

In spite of this progress, Aguilera felt a crucial element remained unfulfilled—a void, an emptiness that refused to dissipate. Aguilera knew a connection needed to be forged to redirect his path toward enlightenment. That’s when he encountered 5-MeO-DMT, the divine sacrament. While ibogaine stripped away the layers of addiction, 5-MeO-DMT brought him closure to the burdens of pain and suffering that had weighed him down for decades.

This sacred medicine allowed him to connect with his true inner self, merging with the universe and discovering his own divine nature. In that moment, Aguilera underwent a profound transformation—a shedding of the past and an awakening to the essence of who he was meant to be in this life. This awakening ignited a deep conviction within him, establishing a religious belief in the power of this Sacrament.

It became clear that this journey was about more than just healing; it was a calling to embrace the transformative potential of 5-MeO-DMT. Driven by this profound understanding, he vowed to make this medicine accessible to those in need of spiritual healing. It is his mission to share the power of 5-MeO-DMT, to help others uncover their inner truth and find their way to the light.
